Among the most famous and sought after dolls made by during the last 30 years by the famous Effanbee Doll Corporation which began operations in 1912, is their doll of Muhammad Ali which was made in 1986 as part of their “Great Moments in Sports” series. This offered example of the Effanbee Ali doll is by far the finest that we have ever seen. The 18 inch doll clothed in white and red boxing trunks and fight robe which have never been removed from this figure, comes in its original box with the lid insert still intact and is complete with two hang tags; one which indicates manufactured in the U.S.A. and another folded tag which opens to introduce the doll of Muhammad Ali “I am the Greatest” as the second doll in the Great Moment in Sports series (Babe Ruth the “Sultan of Swat” was the first in the series) and provides a brief biography of his boxing career. If the presence of these tags were not impressive enough, the contents include a page printed with instructions for posing the Ali doll with a foot placement diagram and another letter made on facsimile Muhammad Ali stationary which is addressed “Dear Doll Lover:” which expresses Ali’s sentiment to be included in the collection and is signed in facsimile by Ali in his vintage style signature from the time. (7 X 10.5). This is an exceptional example of this rare Ali collectable.
