Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. This is the only example at its tier (with none graded higher) among a total of 11 copies recorded in PSA's census reporting. Boxing's first black Heavyweight Champion, Texas-born Jack Johnson employed a patient style, always waiting to pounce on an opponent's mistake. The reigning titlist from 1908 through 1915, Johnson was the subject of repeated controversy—but remained undaunted by the unfavorable racial climate. Historian Ken Burns dubbed Johnson the most famous and most notorious African-American on Earth for more than thirteen years. Singular Near Mint to Mint condition.
