Despite winning the National League pennant in 1947, 49, 52 and 53, the Brooklyn Dodgers just couldn't beat the dreaded New York Yankees. Every summer it looked like they would go all the way, only to fall short, leading to the Brooklyn lament of "Wait 'til next year!” 1955 was next year. The Dodgers pulled it all together, winning the pennant by 13 1/2 games. Roy Campanella narrowly beat out teammate Duke Snider in one of the most controversial MVP Awards and Don Newcombe won 20 games, the first time ever by a black pitcher. Again the Dodgers faced the dreaded Yankees in the Series. Just like they had 4 times before, the two powerhouses see-sawed into the deciding seventh game. This time a local boy named Johnny Podres shut the Yankees out and Sandy Amoros turned a sure extra base hit by Yogi Berra into a game saving double play as the Dodgers won it all. This creamy white Spalding Warren C. Giles Official National League ball has been signed by 25 of those triumphant Boys of Summer. Manager Walt Alston signed the sweet spot followed by World Series heroes Sandy Amoros and Johnny Podres, Gil Hodges, Don Newcombe, Carl Erskine, Russ Meyers, Billy Loes, Jim Gilliam, Roger Craig, Clem Labine, Don Hoak, Don Bessent, and Hall of Famers Roy Campanella, Jackie Robinson along with rookie Sandy Koufax. The Snider, Reese, Furillo, Shuba, Kellert, Zimmer, Walker, Spooner and Roebuck have been deemed clubhouse signatures. All signatures are in strong blue ballpoint and grade between 7-10/10. Letter of Authenticity from JSA.
