Victor Martinez’ outstanding 2014 season included 32 home runs, a .335 batting average, and second place standing in AL Most Valuable Player voting. These helmets were game-worn by V-Mart during that outstanding season. Both the home and away caps show extensive game use, with each displaying some cracking near the vent slots on the top. The road helmet (with orange “D”) shows particular wear, with several cracks, gouges, scratches, and pine tar residue on the bill, a perfect souvenir depicting the rigors of an MLB schedule. Both bear Martinez’ number 41 on the back, and each is certified MLB Authentic with MLB holograms (HZ569891 and HZ569887), and each is initialed inside by Tigers’ Equipment Manager Jim Schmakel to verify their use by the player.
