The St. Louis Cardinals turned in their best season in 23 years in 2000, when the club won the National League Central Division after going 95-67 during the regular season. The Cards would go on to lose to the New York Mets in the NLCS that year. This team signed helmet features 30 signatures from various members of that year’s squad, including Hall of Fame icon Red Schoendienst, who served as a special assistant for the Cardinals. Among the others who signed the helmet, all in varying degrees of gold paint marker, are manager Tony La Russa, Will Clark, Ray Lankford, Dave Veres, Dave Duncan, Mike Matheny, Jim Edmonds, Ferndando Vena, Pat Hentgen, JD Drew, Darryl Kile, Mike Matthews, Jason Christiansen, Matt Morris, Placido Polanco, coaches Dave McKay and Mike Easler, and others. The front of the helmet features the intertwined “SL” logo decal, while the underside of the brim is home to an “American Baseball Cap; MEDIA, PENNA.” manufacturer’s marking. A size “7 1/4” decal and “Authentic Diamond Collection” sticker are both fixed to the inside of the helmet. The multi-signed helmet comes with a PSA/DNA LOA, verification number “X00473.”
