This program from the 1944 World Series played between the St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Browns from Sportsman’s Park features a blue cover with a pair of home plates introducing the reader to the fall classic. Inside the program are a bevy of interesting advertisements placed in-between player photographs along with short player biographies from both ball clubs. The next to last page includes a striking Cardinals team photograph and the scorecards inside this program have not been filled out. This all St. Louis World Series was only the third time in Major League history that both teams shared the same home field. The talent pool in this series was slimmed down due to many of the games greats being called into service to fight in WWII. Though both teams were low on talent, the Browns felt the effect more as the Cardinals had future Hall of Famer Stan Musial suited up for the series. Without much hope the Browns lost the series to the Cardinals, with the Cardinals defeating the Browns 4 games to 2 winning the 1944 World Series. Overall, the program is in excellent condition with clean, crisp pages and only slight edge wear.
