Josh Hamilton’s endless battle against addiction has been always hung over his career. No player in the game today has been as scrutinized and had more support from fans than Hamilton. His comeback with the Reds in 2007 marked his triumphant return to the game after having washed out of the Devil Rays minor league organization in 2002. This extraordinary bat dates from his 1999 to 2000 seasons. Hamilton was the Devil Rays’ first round draft pick and he played in 72 minor league games in 1999. Tampa was impressed enough by the kid that they invited him to train with the big club in the spring of 2000. The Easton Pro Stix 141 model bat shows excellent use and is un-cracked. Several ball marks and stitch impressions are found on the barrel along with blue ink transfers. The handle has been taped in a spiral pattern to enhance the grip and there is a light coat of Mota Stick. This is one of the earliest Hamilton bat’s we’ve ever seen. Letter of Authenticity (H53922) from PSA/DNA.
