Three big reasons for the Boston Red Sox’s success in the mid-2000s included David Ortiz, Manny Ramirez and Kevin Millar. The trio helped Boston win its first World Series title in 86 years in 2004, ending the mythical “Curse of the Bambino.” Offered is a series of game-used items by some of Boston’s biggest stars in that era. The first is a Millar signed, game-used Nike cleat. Millar signed the outside toe region of the right cleat in bold, silver sharpie along with the inscription “04 GAME USED.” The size “10.5” shoe features Millar’s number “15” embroidered in white on a black patch on the tongue. The cleat shows heavy signs of game use and still has a clump of dirt wedged in one of the spikes. Also offered in the lot are two pairs of Louisville game-used batting gloves, one set belonging to Ortiz and the other to Ramirez. The Ortiz batting gloves feature a black patch on the inner wrist of both gloves that reads “D. ORTIZ #34.” The grey gloves with red and navy blue accents feature an “L” Louisville logo on the top of the hand and “TPX” logo on the top wrist. A size “XL” tag is found on the inside of the right glove. Ramirez’s red and grey gloves feature the same “L” and “TPX” designs, with a “#24” patch found on the inner wrist of each glove. No size markings are found on Ramirez’s gloves. Both show moderate signs of game use with wearing on the palms and fingers. The signed cleat comes with a Steiner COA and is PSA/DNA certified, number “X90283.”
