This lot of (18) black and white photographs feature various memorable moments from the 1980 Winter Olympics held in Lake Placid, New York. The “Miracle on Ice,” pitted team U.S.A. who was made up of amateur and collegiate players up against the veteran and heavily experienced team from the U.S.S.R. With Cold War tensions high between the two countries, this matchup ended in thrilling fashion with team U.S.A. coming from behind to defeat the Soviet team. The American’s would go on to win ice hockey gold in this most remarkable Winter Olympics.
