Offered here are four wonderful cartoon caricatures created by three famous artists and given to Harold Esch. The first includes the caption “With all good wishes from the Bumsteads and Chic Young. “ The Bumsteads were Young’s creation for his long-running comic strip Blondie that, after debuting on September 8, 1930, quickly became the most popular comic strip in America at the time. The second is from, and autographed by, Frank Willard and includes an illustration of a myriad of characters from his Moon Mullins comic that quickly became popular after it was launched as a daily on June 19, 1923. The two remaining caricatures are from George McManus who was best known as the creator of Irish immigrant Jiggs and his wife Maggie, the main characters of his syndicated comic strip, Bringing Up Father. A delightful quartet of illustrator drawings featuring characters enormously popular among American comic strip readers.
