No matter how hard it may look, it is difficult to capture the true challenge of being a baseball catcher, one of the toughest jobs in sport. One look at this terrific game used set of gear worn by Cleveland Indians backstop Carlos Santana displays why they are often referred to as “the tools of ignorance.” Included is a mask, chest protector, shin guards, and metal spikes in addition to a pair of batting gloves, all of which are signed by Santana and denoted as “Game Used 2012.” The chest protector and shin guards show particular wear and tear from significant use and one can almost feel the frequent impact. Not what most people would choose to wear throughout a long, hot summer.
