President Richard Nixon may have helped to oversee the U.S. lead the race to land a man on the moon with the flight of Apollo 11 but, he is best remembered for continuing the unpopular Vietnam War and for the Watergate scandal which forced his resignation in 1974. This Richard Nixon signed letter dated, “January 24, 1973,” which features the presidential seal at the top center, was written a day after Nixon addressed the nation on live television telling the world that the U.S. had concluded an agreement to end the Vietnam War. In this letter Nixon thanks a loyal Republican Congressman, the Honorable C.W. Young, for his support saying, “Now that we have finally achieved peace with honor in Vietnam, I particularly want you to know how much I have appreciated the support you have given during these difficult years to the policies that made that achievement possible.” Nixon goes on to say, “But I also am confident that history will prove you to have been right, and that in the years to come you can look back with pride on a stern test nobly met.” This letter measures 6.75” x 8.75” and has been signed by President Richard Nixon in black ink. Item comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA #X03915.
