Though he pitched for seven teams during his 22-year Major League career, Joe Niekro made his biggest mark while with the Houston Astros. Niekro knuckled this Official National League (Feeney) ball during his Astros’ 5-0 victory over the San Francisco Giants on June 9, 1985 at the Astrodome. It is signed by the right-hander along with the inscription “#138 June 9th” to commemorate his 138th career victory, a two-hit shutout that set a new franchise mark for all-time wins.
