Offered is a limited edition Colt Model 1860 Army revolver with Tiffany-Style grips that are gold and silver-plated and hand-engraved. Sold and marketed by New York City’s Schuyler, Hartley and Graham in the 1860’s for the wealthiest of clients, the Colt 1860 revolver has delicate punch dot background on both sides of the barrel lug and on both sides of the frame and standing breech. The delicate punch dot background is also around the periphery of the cylinder at the breech and is along the full length of the loading lever rod and the bottom of the frame and trigger guard strap. The revolver also features deluxe 24-kt gold and silver plating that includes a cylinder, hammer, trigger, loading lever and plunger plated in 24-kt gold. The frame, barrel, trigger guard strap, barrel wedge, screws and Tiffany-Style grip are plated in pure silver. The Tiffany-Style grips were designed by German-American engraver Louis Daniel Nimschke, who was a master firearms engraver of the 19th century and did work notably for Theodore Roosevelt and George Armstrong Custer. He worked on a contractual basis out of New York City and his main client was Schuyler, Hartley and Graham. These metal grips are one-piece silver-plated configuration grips with intricate raised-relief intertwined scrollwork and Civil War battle scenes that are framed in ovals on both sides of the grips. Only 37 of these limited edition “Heirloom” revolvers have been manufactured and the gun has never been fired and the hammer not been pulled back. This is truly a rare and unique item. The serial number is “3” which is the lowest number ever offered for sale.
