As Major League teams have paid tribute to predecessors from the Negro League era, some fascinating nearly-forgotten stories have been brought to life. When the San Francisco Giants took the field against the Atlanta Braves on May 3, 2014, each team celebrated by wearing throwback uniforms. The Giants resurrected the San Francisco Sea Lions, which played during the 1946 season. This size 52 road gray button-front top was worn by Pablo Sandoval and features “San Francisco” across the chest. Sandoval has signed and numbered in silver Sharpie on the back, along with “Game Used, 14 WS Champs, Kung Fu Panda.” In a pair of interesting footnotes, the logo on front of the uniform is actually that of a bear cub, as legend dictates that the Sea Lions purchased uniforms from a previous team and never changed the logo. Sandoval went 0-for-3 in the contest, which was won by the Giants by a 3-1 final, with the hometown Braves donning threads hearkening back to a team known as the Atlanta Black Crackers. Includes MLB Authentication and LOA from PSA/DNA
