Sept. 11, 2009 will live forever in New York Yankees history as the day future Hall of Fame shortstop Derek Jeter passed Bronx Bombers legend Lou Gehrig for first on the franchise’s all-time hits list. The moment came on a lead-off single to start the third inning at home against Baltimore, giving “The Captain” hit No. 2,722. Jeter signed this OML Selig baseball, used during the historic game, in bold, blue ink on the sweet spot with the inscription “#2722 9-11-09.” The Rawlings baseball features a “2009 YANKEE STADIUM INAUGURAL SEASON” stamping on the south panel and shows heavy signs of game use, as a majority of the surface is soiled. The Jeter signed baseball is PSA/DNA sticker only (V01942).
