It’s only fitting that we put these two names together, famous for their pitching these two All-Stars were each one of a kind. Nicknamed “The Ryan Express,” Nolan Ryan was an eight time All-Star, Hall of Fame hard throwing pitcher who regularly recorded pitches above the 100 miles per hour mark. His 5,714 career strikeouts rank first in baseball history by a considerable margin. Ryan is also Major League Baseball’s all-time leader in no-hitters with seven. Hall of Famer, New York Yankees pitcher Whitey Ford spent his entire 16 year career with the team whom he would help win six World Series Championships and he himself won the 1961 Cy Young Award. He was known as “Chairman of the Board,” for his ability to remain calm and in command during high pressure situations he was able to control pitches with pinpoint control. This helped earned him 10 All-Star appearances.
