1983 Game 5, Game Used Rick Dempsey World Series MVP Baltimore Orioles baseball. Rick Dempsey, one of the best defensive catchers of his era, is a two time World Series Champion catcher who was named the MVP of the 1983 World Series vs. the Philadelphia Phillies. During game 5, the final game of the series, Dempsey belted a home run in which the Orioles took a commanding lead and shut out the Phillies to win the series. This Official Rawlings 1983 World Series Baseball has been signed by MVP Rick Dempsey in blue ball point ink on the side panel along with the inscription, “10-16-83 WS MVP.” This baseball also features a World Series 1983 stamp on the side panel.
