This is a rare baseball trophy that belonged to New York Yankees legend Joe DiMaggio that was presented to him while still a player with the Yankees towards the end of his great Hall of Fame career for his philanthropic work with children stricken with heart disease. The trophy which stands 17 inches tall is adorned with a gold tone brass figural batter atop art deco style bakelite base adorned with a winged angel on either side and a metal plaque attached which is engraved, “To Joe DiMaggio With Sincere Appreciation For Serving As The Mayor National Children’s Cardiac Home Mending Heart, Miami, Florida, 1949-1950, Richard I. Berenson, National President.” It is very rare to find a baseball themed trophy awarded to such an iconic player during his playing career.
