Opening Day Auction Closing May 9th
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/10/2015
Offered is a 2 ½ x 3 ¾-inch Civil War-era CDV style portrait of Mary Todd Lincoln, wife of possibly the most influential President in American history --- Abraham Lincoln. The waist-up portrait captures Lincoln’s wife in an angled pose on an albumen print and fixed to a thicker white card with brown border. The bottom center of the CDV reads “MRS. LINCOLN.” The portrait remains in overall sound condition, however the top of the CDV has been cut, likely for it to fit in an album or book in the past. No photographical credits are found on the piece. Truly an iconic keepsake for any American historical collector.
