This is an original 1961 Garfield High School Yearbook from Seattle, Washington that depicts guitar legend Jimi Hendrix in his Junior Year at the school before dropping out to pursue musical interests as the front man for a number of local R & B bands before joining the army in 1961 to avoid legal troubles and possible jail time. The yearbook pictures a youthful looking Jimi Hendrix in the section filled with his junior year classmates. Hendrix was quickly determined unsuitable for the army and honorably discharged in 1962 when he formed his first band called King Kasuals with a fellow serviceman who was impressed with Hendrix’ guitar play while in service. The rest shall we say is history as Hendrix made an indelible mark on rock and roll during the span of a short career up until his death in 1970. This is a rare artifact pertaining to who The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame describes as the greatest instrumentalist in the history of rock music.
