This large double sided Babe Ruth Banner features Ruth wearing his New York Yankee cap and pinstripes with his bat over his left shoulder. This beautiful Champions of American Sport banner displays Ruth’s image in the center behind a blue background. The banner was flown from November 7, 1981 to January 31, 1982 at an exhibition hosted by Chicago’s Historical Society on Clark Street at North Avenue. Chicago was one of three American cities to host this gala, displaying paintings, photographs and related sports souvenirs of the greatest athletes in American Sports history. Babe Ruth was chosen as one of the most recognizable athletes in American professional sports, whose name and image is synonymous with America’s National Pastime.
