Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Hall of Famer. Among the entire range of T206 brands, just fourteen copies of the “Mathewson, Dark Cap” depiction have achieved this tier. Only two specimens have been graded higher. Presented is a truly spectacular example of Mathewson's most recognizable baseball card. This pitching pose – with its sublime, artistic likeness of the great hurler – is an absolute classic within our hobby. As revealed on the choice collectible offered here, Mathewson's image is well-focused, boasts strong colors and contrasts well against its lush blue and green background. The item's corners are sharp and well-defined. Attractive color throughout, in combination with fundamentally uncirculated white borders, gives this card extraordinary eye appeal. The piece's reverse is deeply printed, and its "El Principe de Gales" (“Prince of Wales”) advertisement projects marvelously. One of the most striking cards in the T206 series, in Near Mint to Mint condition.
