For a brief period in the late 80’s and early 90’s, Guns N’ Roses was the biggest band on the planet. After the release of their first album Appetite for Destruction in 1987, the band toured the world furiously for 16 months, quickly growing from an opening act to a stadium headliner. Appetite still holds the distinction of being the best-selling debut album of all-time, certified 18X Platinum by the RIAA. Between 1989 and 1992, Guns N’ Roses received 8 American Music Award nominations, winning 4. This is the Favorite Artist: Heavy Metal statue awarded to Guns N’ Roses at the 1990 AMA’s. The award is a pyramid-shaped crystal statue, measuring 4.5" x 14.25" x 4.5". Bottom of crystal is inscribed with “American Music Award” in gold lettering. Pyramid stands on a dark base, fronted by a Gold plaque which reads “”Favorite Artist * Heavy Metal * Guns N’ Roses * 1990”. Award shows significant wear around the base, and the crystal pyramid shows a 2-inch scratch on the right side. Award Originally Sold for $24,300 in 2013 and is now offered again.
