Mike Piazza was the last and maybe the best of a long line of superstar Dodgers backstops. Piazza burst into the Majors in 1991 with a freshman season that earned him the Rookie of the Year Award. Just four years later he was undoubtedly the best catcher in the National League, hitting a resounding .346 with 34 homers.

Piazza would go on to forge an offensive record that made him arguably the best hitting catcher in the history of the game. This Mizuno MWV-200P model mitt was used by Piazza during the 1995 season with the Dodgers. As one would expect from the NL’s premier catcher, Piazza’s mitt shows excellent use. The pocket displays the expected wear from use and the finger tips and edges of the mitt have the scuffs and abrasions that come with regular game use. The fleece-lined wrist strap shows light sweat marks and the interior has darkened with perspiration and use. All the leather lacing is original and intact as are the three embroidered Mizuno patches. “Piazza” is embroidered in bright blue on the outside of the pinky finger. Piazza has signed the interior eye of the mitt in blue marker adding “95 HOF 2016”. A great gamer from the early part of Piazza’s Hall of Fame career that comes with a letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA (1G00326) for the game use and a separate LOA from PSA/DNA (AA07657) for his signature.
