The 1951 Brooklyn Dodgers will best be remembered for their late season swoon that saw the New York Giants erase a 13-game lead and force a best-of-three series with Brooklyn for the National League pennant. Bobby Thomson’s “shot heard round the world” off Ralph Branca in the deciding game sent the Polo Grounds into a frenzy and propelled the Giants to the National League pennant. This Official National League Ford C. Frick baseball has been signed by 25 members of the 1951 Brooklyn Dodgers. Hall of Famers Jackie Robinson, Roy Campanella, Duke Snider, Pee Wee Reese and Dick Williams have signed their names on this ball. Manager Charlie Dressen signed his name on the sweet spot and other signatures include Gil Hodges, Carl Furillo, Don Newcombe, Carl Erskine, Phil Haugstad, Clyde King, Johnny Schmitz, Cal Abrams and several others. The baseball is in good condition and is slightly toned. The signatures have been signed in blue pen and are clear. This team-signed baseball comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (AC04527).
