Once again, pitching stole the show at a Major League Baseball All-Star Game, this time around in 2001, when the American League defeated the National League by a final score of 4-1. Roger Clemens and Randy Johnson were the game’s starting pitchers and neither ace would give up a run. Cal Ripken Jr., whose home run accounted for the first scoring of the game, would be named the Most Valuable Player.
Presented here is a Jostens-manufactured 2001 American League All-Star Game ring, featuring a round CZ set in a Seattle Mariners logo-type burst design (Seattle hosted the game) on a large green colored stone. “ALL STAR 2001” – along with an MLB logo – reads around the bezel setting in relief work. One side of the ring displays the American League 100th Anniversary logo while the opposite side features the 2001 All-Star Game logo. Inside the band is marked “AUR©JOSTENS”. This ring, which shows some band wear, is an approximate size 9 ½ and weighs approximately 11.7 grams. This ring comes from the collection of the late Gene Autry and a LOA from his widow Jacqueline Autry will accompany this ring.
