Sport Club Internacional of Porto Alegre won their first Copa Libertadores title in 2006 after defeating fellow Brazilian outfit Sao Paulo across a two-legged final series. Internacional triumphed 2-1 in the first leg after both teams saw a player sent off in the first half, with Inter getting a brace of goals from their striker Rafael Sobis at Sao Paulo’s Estádio Cícero Pompeu de Toledo. Despite going down to ten men again in the second match, Internacional earned a 2-2 draw with Sao Paulo at the Estadio Jose Pinheiro Borba to emerge the 4-3 winners on aggregate. This was only the second appearance in the Copa Libertadores Final for Internacional, despite the venerable club’s considerable trophy cabinet. Internacional would also claim the 2006 FIFA Club World Cup title by defeating Spanish giants Barcelona in the championship match. This offered medal is gold in color, with “Copa Toyota Libertadores De America” and the Copa Libertadores trophy etched in high relief on the front. “Al Campeon 2006” is also etched on the front. Etched on the back is a CSF logo. This medal comes with a LOA from the Team Soccer Coordinator.
