Not many NHL players can even come close to the career of the legendary Jean Beliveau. Over his 20 seasons in the league – all with the Montreal Canadiens – the Hall of Famer was named an All-Star 10 times, won the Hart Trophy as the league’s Most Valuable Player twice and was a Stanley Cup champion an amazing ten times. In one such championship season (1964-65), Beliveau won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the MVP of the postseason after recording eight goals and eight assists, for a total of 16 points, in the playoffs.
Offered here is the 1964-65 Conn Smythe Trophy identical to the one that was presented to Beliveau, measuring 14 ½ inches high with the wooden base 9 ½ inches wide x 7 ½ inches deep. A depiction of the Maple Leaf Gardens sits atop the base, along with a large silver maple leaf in the background. Below that is a plate that reads “Conn Smythe Trophy presented to the National Hockey League by Maple Leaf Gardens Ltd. to be awarded annually to the Outstanding Player of the Play-Offs 1965”. Appearing at the bottom of the base is a sterling maple leaf shaped plaque inscribed “1964-65 Jean Beliveau Montreal Canadiens”. This trophy was made by Boffey, Inc. (out of Montreal), the manufacturer of such trophies for the NHL. Comes with a 1999 LOA from a Canadian Dealer together with an original Wire-Photo of Beliveau receiving his Trophy.
