For the fifth time in his career, Dave Parker was selected for the All-Star Game representing the Cincinnati Reds. Parker’s 1985 stats clearly show he was worthy of selection as the 1978 National League MVP finished the season with a NL-high 42 doubles and 125 RBI, while hitting 32 home runs and batting a solid .312.
During the 1985 All-Star Game festivities at the Metrodome in Minneapolis, Dave Parker won the Home Run Derby. While other incarnations of the Home Run Derby took place prior to 1985, this event was the first to have an official formant and recognized by the League. Parker defeated hometown favorite Tom Brunansky of the Twins, Hall of Famers Carlton Fisk, Eddie Murray, Jim Rice, Ryne Sandberg and Cal Ripken, Jr., along with Dale Murphy and Steve Garvey to win the crown.
This offered Louisville Slugger M253 model bat was used by Parker during his victorious 1985 Home Run Derby participation. This bat displays excellent use and is un-cracked. There are ball marks, blue ink transfers and slight checking or grain swelling from repeated ball contact on the barrel. The knob and cupped top barrel have “39” and “PARKER” handwritten in silver marker. Parker has signed this bat in silver marker on the barrel and inscribed “The Cobra” and “H.R. Derby Bat 1985”. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B17651) for the game use and has been given the highest grade of GU 10, plus a LOA from JSA for the signature.
