Don Drysdale's consecutive scoreless streak of 58-2/3 innings was thought to be an unbreakable record, achieved during the "Year of the Pitcher" in 1968. That was the last year the major league mounds were 15 inches high (they were reduced to 10 inches in 1969), which gave a near insurmountable advantage over the hitter. But 20 years later, Orel Hershiser recorded one of the most remarkable runs in major league history, throwing five complete games shutouts in September and throwing 10 shutout innings in another game, breaking Big D's long standing record. This creamy-white ONL Bill White ball has the blue ink signatures of both these Los Angeles Dodger legends, with the sweet spot having "Don Drysdale" with the panel above having a bold "Orel Hershiser" signature. The Drysdale signature is very slightly smudged near the second capital "D" but otherwise these two are very sharp. Full LOA from PSA/DNA, cert number U05342.
