The legend of Joe Montana began with the 1979 Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Battling the elements and the flu, Montana led the Irish to a comeback victory over the Houston Cougars 35-34 after Notre Dame had trailed 34-12 entering the fourth quarter. Montana was forced to leave the game due to his illness and the Notre Dame medical staff fed him chicken bouillon to warm up when the star quarterback was fighting off hypothermia. Montana capped off the comeback with a touchdown pass to Kris Haines with no time left on the clock and the extra point gave the Irish the hard-fought victory. This 16x20 black and white photo, which is signed by Montana in blue ink with the inscription “The Chicken Soup Game 1979 Cotton Bowl ND 35-Houston 34 Go Irish!”, shows Montana eluding a Houston defender. Comes with a Joe Montana hologram.
