The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame are one of college football's most enduring schools, having the vastest history of any collegiate program. During the 1960s, the school began slowly, still coming off their dreadful decade of the 1950s. When Are Parshegian took over the reins in 1964, the Irish became national powers once again, winning the National Championship in 1966. This heavy wool blue, size 48, sideline sweater is one which the coaches would wear on the sidelines. It has gold stripe in the middle of the neck collar and both cuffs, with the ubiquitous ND stitched onto the left shoulder. The "King O'Shea" manufactures tag is in the collar, and the size "48" is stitched inside along the lower left flank. The sweater is in excellent overall condition, with some minor stitched repairs in several locations. This is a great memento which roamed the sidelines at one of college football's most historic schools.
