Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA. Hall of Famer, in a challenging, "Short Print" appearance. Because of his absence for Korean War service, the '54 was Williams' first card since the 1951 Bowman issue. (Back on the field in 1954, the great hitter rebounded with a .345 average, 29 homers and 136 RBI.) For that season, Bowman printed two versions of its card number 66. Following a dispute over his contract with Bowman, Ted Williams' collectible was pulled from production and replaced by one featuring Jim Piersall (who also appears on a card numbered "210"). This scarce card of Williams reveals mild evidence of past circulation primarily at the top-edge corners. The "Splinter's" image comes through brightly in a clear portrait with a nice, glossy finish; the card's reverse is clean and unblemished. Very Good to Excellent condition.
