There are very few things that you can say to even the most casual observer of the Baseball card market that makes more of an impact than "Mickey Mantle rookie". That statement evokes memories for those that remember seeing Mantle play and wishful thinking for those of us that missed seeing him play by virtue of being born to late. In 1951 Casey Stengel promoted Mantle to the majors after an impressive showing in spring training. Despite the high hopes that Stengel and the Yankees had for Mantle no one could have foreseen the career that he would go on to have. After his rookie season, Mickey was a perennial All-Star choice for the duration of his career. This stellar example of Mickey Mantle's rookie card is very fitting tribute to the switch hitting slugger. This example of Mantle's rookie card has an extremely well centered image framed by snow white borders. The sharp corners add to the pack fresh appearance of this card while the back of the card is free of any staining. Whoever sent this card in for grading must have been expecting a "Mint" grade. There are very few collectors who don't have their sights set on a Mickey Mantle rookie, whether that collector is advanced or just starting out. This card was well worth waiting for, a card that compares very favorably when stacked up against all known examples!
