Of the few records Mickey Mantle actually owns in Major League Baseball history, most derived from his impressive appearance in the 12 World Series his New York Yankees appeared during his Hall of Fame tenure. Mantle is the All Time World Series leader with the most home runs (18), runs batted in (40), runs scored (42), extra-base hits (26), total bases (123) and walks (43). The homers matter most, of course, and actually lead to the results produced in those other categories. It was a treat to see Mantle rounding the bases, World Series buntings visible in the background. Although every Mantle World Series home run was special, his first two World Series home runs were truly historic. The first, with the Yankees facing elimination but leading 2-1 in the top of the eighth, Mantle stepped up against Billy Loes, and promptly hit a blast THE OTHER WAY over the left center field fence; giving the Yankees a cushion in a game they would eventually win 3-2. Then, the next day also in Ebbetts Field, Mantle came to bat versus Joe Black with Game 7 tied at 2-2. Mantle hit a deep drive over the right field fence to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead, one they would never relinquish winning 4-2 to win the 1952 World Series. So, as a 20-year-old, Mantle’s first two World Series home runs were late-inning game winners while the Yankees faced elimination! This collection of 16 ticket stubs are from each game which saw Mickey hit a tater (in two games Mantle blasted two home runs). Among the highlights in the set are five scarce Ebbets Field contests, Don Larsen's 1956 perfect game and Mantle's 1964 eclipsing of Ruth. Who can forget Mantle hitting the 10th inning home run in the 1964 Game 3 contest which broke Ruth’s record? Condition is mostly EX to EX/MT with a few lesser (1953 Game 2, 1953 Game 5, 1955 Game 3, 1960 Game 2), and stub sizes range from 3-1/2" x 2-1/4" to 4.5 x 2.5 inches. The classic 8 x 10 inch portrait is Near Mint, features a blue-Sharpie "Mickey Mantle No. 7" signature and grades (“10/10”). The entire display is framed to a dimension of 26.5 x 32.5 inches. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication, cert number X74335.
