Winter Auction 2015 closing February 7
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/8/2015
After his post-season pinch-hitting heroics for the Cardinals, Oscar Taveras seemed on the brink of a promising big league career. Then, just as quickly as it began, Taveras' career and life was tragically snuffed out in an automobile accident just days after appearing in the play-offs. This bat was used by Taveras during his rookie and sole season in the majors. The Louisville Slugger S318 model bat shows outstanding use and is un-cracked. The bat shows outstanding use with plenty of ball marks with stitch impressions and blue ink transfers. There are cleat marks on the barrel as well as green bat rack paint streaks. There is a moderate coat of Mota Stick present on the upper and lower handle. The date of manufacture "09/08/14", "VM", length "33.5" and weight "31.0" are stamped into the knob end. Taveras' number "18" is hand written on both the knob and barrel ends in black marker. The young star has signed the bat's barrel and added the year "2014" in black marker. Letter of Authenticity 1B09015 from PSA/DNA who have reviewed this bat and awarded their highest grade of GU 10. This lot is part of the Oscar Taveras collection and all consignor proceeds in excess of minimum bid will be donated directly to the Taveras family.
