The combo of Eddie Mathews and Hank Aaron struck fear into many a National League pitcher during the 1950’sand 60’s. Mathews twice led the league in home runs and as a nod to his awesome power, either led the league or was in the top ten in walks for over a decade. This bat was swung by the hulking Braves third baseman during the 1963 season that saw him hitting 23 of his 512 career homers. The Hillerich & Bradsby S2 model bat shows excellent use, is un-cracked with slight milder present on its surface. Several ball marks with stitch impressions are visible along with blue bat rack paint streaks. The model “S2” is stamped into the knob and Mathews’ famous number “41” has been hand written in faded black marker with the weight “33” in pencil. A great gamer from one of the greatest power hitters of baseball’s Golden Era. Letter of Authenticity (1B08561) from PSA/DNA who have graded this bat a solid GU 8.5.
