Presented is a 96-card complete set of 1941 R157 Gum, Inc. "Uncle Sam" non-sports cards and a near-complete set of R158 Uncle Sam's Home Defense cards. The fascinating R157 Uncle Sam cards comprising this patriotic issue depict military personnel, their weapons, and their activities. The collectibles' reverse-side text is so thorough and pertinent that the cards were often represented at the time of issue as "educational" material for school-age children. The R158 Uncle Sam's Home Defense cards are missing #'s 107, 121 through 133, and 135 through 144, for a total of 24 missing cards. The cards range in VG to VG/EX condition and are highly sought after by collectors while offering a view into the early days of the Cold War.
