Oliver was aggressively pursued by Pirates scouts and was finally signed after graduating college in 1963. Called up late in '65, Oliver went hitless in 3 games. A trade to the Twins organization followed and Oliver was back in the majors to stay in 1969. This Hillerich & Bradsby dates from his first stint in the majors and his subsequent two seasons of minor league seasoning.
The Hillerich & Bradsby R161 model bat displays outstanding use with a crack on the back barrel. Slight checking is found on the back barrel from repeated ball contact. Oliver's number "33" is written on the knob end in faded marker.
