This bat was used by Ryne during one of the most storied seasons in Cubs history. Sandberg had his first big season in '84, hitting .314 with an even 200 hits as the Cubs got into their first post-season spot since 1969. Sandberg's performance earned him the National League MVP Award and made Ryne the Cubs most beloved star since Ernie Banks. The Louisville Slugger B267 model bat shows excellent use and is un-cracked. The barrel shows many ball marks with stitch impressions and black ink transfers. There are green bat rack paint streaks visible on the barrel. The handle has been scored to enhance the grip and carries a light coat of pine tar. Sandberg's number "23", model "B267" and "Rainey" are written on the knob in blue marker. Chuck Rainey was a Cubs pitcher in 1983 and 1984 and his name on the knob may indicate his use of the bat. Ryne Sandberg has signed the barrel in black marker making this a great Hall of Famer gamer. Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA (1B08614) from PSA/DNA who have graded this bat a GU 6.
