Somewhere in France during WWI on September 10th, 1918, 1st Lieutenant Timothy D. Bonney wrote to Mr. Clark Griffith at the Washington Baseball Club in Washington, D.C. asking for baseball equipment to, “outfit a team,” for his troops. This fascinating letter brings you to the front lines of the war as is stated in the letter, “we are front line fighting troops and are located so far front that we cannot even get to Paris to buy any outfit.” This remarkable typed letter would stand proud in any WWI or baseball collection.
