On September 29th, 1996 Alan Trammell played his last game. As part of a promotion called "shirt off the player's back" this jersey was promoted and awarded to a contest winner by the Detroit Tigers. Fittingly Tram went out in style, going 2 for 4 with an RBI against Milwaukee. The six-time Golden Glove shortstop spent his entire career with the Detroit Tigers where his big bat earned him three Silver Slugger Awards. Tram's .285 lifetime average puts him among the best hitting shortstops of all-time. Although he's not been voted into the Hall of Fame just yet, votes for Tram's inclusion grow each year and it won't be long before his plaque hangs in Cooperstown. This is the jersey Trammell wore for his final game as a big leaguer. The classic white Tigers home jersey features the Gothic "D" in navy tackle twill with matching navy piping around the neck and placket. The Russell Athletic label is sewn in the lower left front tail upon which JSA sticker (Y52644) has been affixed. The back has "TRAMMELL" across the back in individual navy tackle twill. An interesting note is that the "R" has been made from a "P" with an added bar to create the "R". Tram's number "3" is below in navy tackle twill. The Tigers star has signed and personalized the jersey "To Micky, All my best! 9/29/96" in bold black marker. Overall the jersey shows light game use and displays perfectly. A newspaper from Trammell's last game is included along with a notarized letter from the fan who won the jersey as part of the Tigers "shirt off the players back" fan appreciation promotion on September 29th. Letter of Authenticity (Y52644) from JSA and uniform expert Dave Miedema are also included.
