Rookie sensation Mike Trout used this bat during the August 14, 2012 game against Cleveland at Angels Stadium. In the bottom of the 7th Trout hit a Frank Herrmann offering for a ground out and permanently retired this bat. The Old Hickory J143M bat shows great game use with many ball marks and stitch impressions on the barrel and white leather ball scuffs can be seen. The lower handle and knob has been wrapped with adhesive tape to enhance the grip. A light layer of pine tar is found on the handle and a light coat of Mota Stick is found in the center brand area. There were very few rookie bats for Trout with MLB Authentication, then rarer still with the unique inscription derived from the Sports Illustrated cover that year. Trout has signed the barrel in contrasting silver ink adding "Super Natural" and "GU 12". A great item from Trout's Rookie of the Year season. Letter of Authenticity from MLB (EK323698) and PSA/DNA who have graded this bat GU 9.5.
