Better known as the successor to Casey Stengel as Yankees manager, Ralph Houk was a promising catcher in the Yankees organization until World War II caused him to put his career on hold. Houk volunteered for the U.S.
Army Special Forces and rose to the rank of Major, his nickname when he final made the majors in 1947. As a back-up to Yogi Berra, Ralph Houk was seldom used and appeared in just 9 games in 1952. As such, his Hillerich & Bradsby K55 model bat he used that year is un-cracked and shows light use. A few ball marks with stitch impressions are visible along with blue bat rack paint streaks. The model number "K55" is stamped into the knob end and Houk has signed the barrel in black marker. Letter of Authenticity (1B05213) from PSA/DNA who have graded this gamer a GU 7.
