Big-swinging outfielder Gary Sheffield made a lot of stops along the way during his highly productive 22-year Major League Baseball career. That included two seasons in Detroit toward the end of his career when “Sheff” was chasing the 500 home run plateau. This signed gray game-used Detroit Tigers button-down road jersey comes from Sheffield’s 2008 season with the team. Sheffield signed the front of the jersey in bold, blue sharpie along with the inscription “Game Used 2008 #3” and “Road to 500” as he finished the 2008 season with 499 career homers. The jersey features “Detroit” scripted across the chest with Sheffield’s number “3” below in navy blue on orange and white tackle twill. The top back of the jersey reads “SHEFFIELD” with his number “3” below, also in navy blue on orange and white tackle twill. The front left tail of the jersey boasts a “Majestic Authentic Collection” manufacturer’s label with a white strip tag below that reads “3 52 08 318.” The jersey shows signs of light game use and has Jim Schmakel’s (Detroit Tigers’ Equipment Manager) tag markings. The signed, game-used jersey comes with a COA from PSA/DNA (Z19954) and comes with and LOA from noted game used sports jersey expert Dave Miedema.
