Few heavyweight champions have been as polarizing as Mike Tyson. The youngest Heavyweight Champion in history and the first boxer to unify the WBC, WBA and IBF belts, Iron Mike commanded huge crowds and media attention at every stop, turning each title defense into a major event. Inside the ring he was considered one of the hardest hitters of all-time, and his extraordinary penchant for first round knockouts became legendary. Outside the ring, controversy followed him too closely, and his fiercely burning star faded quickly as criminal charges and personal issues in the Tyson camp mounted. Tyson would retire with 50 wins in 58 bouts, 44 by KO or TKO.
This is a yellow Tuf Wear boxing glove worn by Tyson while training in late 1986, and is signed by Tyson with the inscription “Love Always 9/30/86”. Tyson won his first heavyweight title just 6 weeks after this date, on a 2nd round TKO of Trevor Berbick in November 1996 to become the YOUNGEST Heavyweight Champ in History!!. The glove comes with a Tyson display case with a removable glass top, mirrored bottom and a cherry wood base. The glove shows heavy use, and is affixed with JSA hologram Y00840 verifying signature authenticity. Glove is also accompanied by a MEARS Grade of Authentic, with MEARS hologram 314275.
