Nicknamed "Mr. October" for his postseason heroics, Reggie Jackson helped the Oakland A’s win five consecutive American League West divisional pennants, three consecutive American League pennants and two consecutive World Series titles from 1971 to 1975. In 1977, Jackson was traded to the New York Yankees where he was given the opportunity to show his off his skills for the most storied franchise in baseball history. Jackson did not disappoint. It was in the Big Apple that Jackson’s legend grew as he helped New York win four American League East divisional pennants, three American League pennants and two consecutive World Series titles during that span from 1977 to 1981.

This bat dates to Jackson’s first three years with the Yankees (1977-79) that included the season Jackson cemented his place in baseball history by hitting three consecutive home runs in the clinching game of the 1977 World Series. In that 1977 series, Jackson hit five home runs and had a .450 batting average against the Dodgers on his way to becoming the World Series MVP. The following season, “Mr. October” came through again hitting two more home runs and driving in 8 runs to help the Yankees beat the Dodgers again to win the 1978 World Series.

This Adirondack 288RJ model bat is 35 inches in length and weighs 36.2 ounces matching Jackson’s ordering records for the period. As evidenced by the Adirondack advertisement shown in the accompanying images, Jackson clearly liked blond Adirondack bats like the one offered here. According to the PSA/DNA LOA, this bat shows excellent use with a handle crack. There are also several ball marks and ball stitch impressions visible on the right, left and back barrel. The ball marks also include blue ink transfers. There is also a light coat of pine tar on the handle that is a perfect Jackson player use characteristic. The model number (288RJ) is stamped on the knob.

A great gamer from Reggie's days in the Bronx. Letter of Authenticity (I02918) from PSA/DNA.
