Ty Cobb has signed this personal check dated December 7, 1948. The clean, “Tyrus R. Cobb” scripting has been placed in fountain pen on the document’s proper line. Drawn from Cobb’s First National Bank of Nevada (Reno) account, the check was made in the amount of two hundred dollars. The check -- bearing Cobb's full name printed along the left side -- reveals routine bank stampings and punch-hole patterns (none of which affect the signature). The item has been double-matted and framed, along with a black-and-white photo of Cobb’s batting stance, and a descriptive plaque. The display measures 23” x 14” in total dimensions. Cobb was one of the Hall of Fame’s inaugural inductees in 1936, and passed away in 1961. LOA from JSA.
