The 1929 Brooklyn Robins finished 6th in the National League but first in the hearts of the Brooklyn Fans. Called the "Robins" after their manager Wilbert Robinson, the team was often mired in the lower depths of the standings year after year and their sub-par level of play meant that the team was constantly finding new ways to lose a ball game. It was this era that gave baseball history the famous game where three Robins base runners wound up on third base at the same time. Still, the people of Brooklyn loved their team and affectionately dubbed them "Dem Bums". While most are familiar with the names of Hall of Famers Dazzy Vance (one third of the trio of runners who wound up on third at the same time), Max Carey and Dan Bancroft whose signatures are found on this ball, the Brooklyn faithful showered love and praise on guys like Johnny Frederick, Jake Flowers and Del Bissonette who are among the 20 who have signed this sphere. Frederick was a phenom from the Coast League who hit for high average until a series of injuries derailed his career. Flowers and Bissonette were two of the many players who wore the brooklyn uniform, showing flashes of brilliance before drifting back to the minors. Other Robins on the ball are Eddie Moore, Billy Rhiel, Butch Henline (signed twice), Kent Greenfield, Hank DeBerry, Johnny Morrison, Luther Roy, Rube Bressler, Val Picinich, Cy Moore, Ray Moss, Harvey Hendrick, and Doug McWeeny. The ball is in outstanding condition for its age. The black fountain pen signatures are crisp, ranging from Dazzy Vance's 9/10 to Max Carey and Dan Bancroft who are a solid 6/10. A great piece of Brooklyn Dodgers history from the era that earned the team's nickname of "Dem Bums". Comes with full LOA from PSA/DNA
